Near the capital city Sofia, Mt Vitosha is the most visited and fourth highest peak in Bulgaria. A popular ski destination, the mountain is divided into four parts: the northern part of the mountain has the Alek skiing centre, the south western part of the mountain is the least visited and the eastern part has the highest peaks. Duhlata, Bulgaria's longest cave slices into Mt. Vitosha‘s side. The mountain enjoys winter-like conditions throughout most the year, summer only appears in July and August.
