Magnificent Artists Point is a favorite of professional photographers but little known among travellers. The iconic image of Mt. Shuskan reflected in the still waters of Picture Lake is a scene familiar from many nature calendars. In fact, Mt. Shuskan is said to be the third most photographed mountain in all of North America. To the west, the blindingly white ice cone of Mt. Baker dominates the rugged volcanic landscape. To the north and south extend a long line of jagged Cascade peaks. The hikes in this area offer truly fabulous mountain scenery as well as wildlife viewing and there is good skiing here in winter.
