Located close to the border with Chile, Aconcagua (6962m/22,841ft) is the highest mountain of South America, even the highest peak outside of Asia! Still the two normal routes are not steep and the summit can be reached by fit and determined hikers.

Your luggage will be carried by mules to BaseCamp, after then you are on your own! The season is from December to February, but even then there can be bad weather, so take extra days into account. A typical climb will take about 3 weeks and guided services are available.

For the extreme climbers: the huge near-vertical South face can be climbed, one of the largest in the world.

Aconcagua & Puente del Inca

22,841 feet high, Aconcagua or "The Stone Sentinal" is an Andean peak. Not the most difficult mountain to climb, those who attempt it need to be fit and experienced mountain trekkers. On the way up mountaineers will cross the Puente del Inca, the "Bridge of the Inca.",which sits beside the mountain: a yellow stone bridge which contrasts with the brown waters of the Rio las Cuevas which flows beneath it.
