A heady mix of Mystery, Legends and Magnificence is what a trek to Roopkund is all about. Situated at an altitude of 15500ft(approx) in the lap of Gharwal Himalayas, India, this trek offers spectacular views right from day 1. Also christened "The Skeleton Lake" due to the numerous ancient skeletons found in the lake, it is an altogether interesting experience to hear the folklore from the locals here. This is a 6 day trek which encompasses a journey through the most beautiful high altitude grasslands and splendid views of magnificent peaks all around. A few meters above the lake lies the Junargali Ridge which offers a clear 360 degree panorama of all the peaks and valleys around it.

Where

Base Camp - Lohajung, Chamoli district, Uttarakhand, India.

When

May/June or August/September

India is a vast country with the Himalayan Range forming its northern boundary. Its climate and geography are complex, so when considering your tour you need to plan carefully where to go, when to go and what your budget is. The initial experience of India - the heat,

the noise and the street life, the vibrant colours and the multitudes of people - may bewilder and exhaust the first time visitor, but the country and its people are friendly and also hospitable.
