This 'chair' was carved into the rocks of Sydney's Domain for Elizabeth Macquaire, wife of one of the first Governors of New South Wales. She liked to come here for the view – and you can still see why today. This spot on the point proffers a view in both directions, from the bridge and Kirribilli House (the Prime Minister's Sydney residence) to Pinchgut Island and the naval dockyards and Russell Crowe's house on the Wooloomooloo docks. There's a winding road up to the chair which was built for Mrs Macquarie as well – in about 1816.
