This is a giant grave yard for Soviet era statues. A cubist rendering in concrete depicting Marx and Engles no longer takes pride of place in Budapest’s squares, but it’s too good to throw away isn’t it? Correct comrade. Hungary’s Communist regime was still lying on the ground where it had fallen when these kinds of communist megaliths were removed and gathered here in exile, where they form a fascinating scene.

Lenin, Marx and Engles and the Hungarian communist leader Bela Kun repeat on you everywhere you turn, but appearances are also made by the Communist Martyrs and memorials to Soviet Soldiers.

After strolling between the monuments you’re directed towards an exhibition hall in the old barracks which has a documentary theatre where you can see a film on the methods employed by the secret police… And after that you can visit the gift shop where you’re able to purchase a can of air from the ‘last breath of Socialism’ and candle effigies of Stalin and Lenin.

I would recommend to buy an English booklet about the statues at the souvenir shop upon arrival in order to learn more about the gigantic Communist heroes, masculine females and happy workers reliefs.

Amazing!

Ok, its hard to get to (you have to get a random public bus and get off when you see the statues) but worth the effort. If you go to Budapest you must go here!
