San Francisco Museum of Modern Art is the largest collection of modern art in the western United States. Home to 50,000 square feet of galleries, SFMOMA is a nonprofit organization run by 353 individuals. The impressive collection is home to permanent works by Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Georgia O'Keeffe, Frida Kahlo, Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol and more. Special exhibits and events are hosted throughout the year.

SFMOMA embraces the idea that art can be life altering and that some of the best art is that which is new and unexpected. The museum is a central feature to the community’s art community and has hosted two film festivals with the San Francisco Film Society, a series of live art performances, and educational programs for youth and families.

The museum is closed on Wednesdays. It is free to children under 12 and free to all on the first Tuesday of the month. Admission is half price on Thursday evenings.
