Opened on June 6 2003, 59 years after the D-Day landings that took back Juno Beach from the German forces, this centre in Courseulles-sur-Mer, presents the stories of the predominantly Canadian forces who experienced their 'longest day' on this stretch of coast.  This stretch of French soil and sand is proclaimed a place of natural importance by the Canadian Government, and the idea for the centre came from a group of Canadian veterans who'd fought on the beach and wanted the stories and contributions properly commemorated.

Shaped on the outside something like a maple leaf, the centre also remembers life in Canada in the lead up to the war and looks at life there now.
