The city of Cortona is old. If you’re looking for a traditional Italian town with traditional streets and traditional piazzas, well, then this is your place. The streets, the architecture, and the location all reflect the city’s age and style, and you’re bound to find a restaurant that serves food just like the city: Traditional, and wonderful because of it.

Two Renaissance churches can be found, as well as a wealth of remains from ancient civilizations.

Ancient Roman and Etruscan ruins? Check. Ancient Roman, Etruscan, and Egyptian Museum? Yes. Etruscan Tombs? Duh. Rare, beautiful frescoes? Why not. Plan to spend more than a day if you have any interest at all in Italian history and beautiful art. The two museums seem like they shouldn’t fit on this small, hilltop town, but somehow they do. Spend your time in Cortona in a historical euphoric bliss.
