Freo's markets are your typical Australian market – a mix of crafts, clothes, unique gift ideas – including some lush jewellery – and local produce, though this guys set up shop in a section called 'The Yard'. There's a lot here though and the quality is quite high, so if you like a market atmosphere then it's worth dropping by for a little wander and a perusal. They say that this is an institution and it's been going on now, in one shape or form, for more than a hundred years, so no wonder. It is a nice, relaxing way to spend a day though. Just make sure that you make time for plenty of stops for coffee and or wine – the cafes around that markets are some of its main appeal.
They're housed in a cool old federation style building and the doors are on the corner of South Terrace and Henderson Street and are open Fridays as well as the weekends.
