Step into the Athens Central Market to catch a glimpse of the past. The ancient market tradition of Athens is still thriving on Athinas street Monday through Saturday. The main market is made up of several smaller markets, each selling a specialty. At the meat market you can find butchers whose families have had stalls here for a hundred years. The fish market will overwhelm your senses with the smell of fish, the sight of seafood piled high, and the booming voices of the vendors shouting their prices. The colorful fruit and vegetable market is just across the street. From stands selling everything from olives to cheeses to nuts and dried fruit the Athens Central Market has so much to offer and is a great way to participate in an ancient tradition.
