Bluefin is a Japanese fusion restaurant and lounge located at the heart of Kuta, Bali’s liveliest beach resort. It is a hip place to see and be seen at night, but during the day the pace is more sedate and, as a result, Bluefin’s first-rate lunches come at bargain prices.

The establishment has an extended idea of lunchtime with set menus served from 11 am to 5 pm. The sashimi set comprises miso soup; a green salad with delicious peanut dressing; three pieces each of chunky red tuna, buttery whitefish, and firm salmon; a bowl of steamed rice; and fresh fruit, all for just USD 10. Sushi, tempura, and teriyaki sets are even cheaper.

Bluefin serves what many describe as the best sushi, sashimi, and fusion rolls in Bali, and à la carte tataki, teppanyaki, Korean hotplates, and Australian Wagyu beef are also to be had. Making the most of the island’s prolific waters, fat tuna, red snapper, and prawns are all caught locally.
