The famous images of Mount Fuji rising, mirrored on water are taken on Lake Ashi, formed by volcanic activity of Fuji and Mount Hakone. The Japanese, as a nation and a culture love a beautiful view and there are specially designated viewing areas where you can snap the best image at Moto-Hakone. For the perfect photo the morning and early evening are usually the clearest times of day (especially on a bright winters day when Fuji is capped with snow.). Lake Ashi also has hot springs.
