The Garda lake is the biggest lake of Italy, and one of the most renown windsurfing / kitesurfing destinations in Europe because of the consistency of it's winds that blow regularly almost every day of the year, and because of Italy's mild climate. The surrounding mountains (highest is Monte Baldo, 1710m high) and steep rocky cliffs make the Garda a stunning place where to ride. Due to the narrow beaches of pebbles, and to the fact that kiteboarding is forbidden on the north shore (windsurf only!) the spots are basically three: Campione (left shore), Brenzone and Navene (right shore).

There are two main thermal winds blowing all along the lake's shores: Ora and Peler. Ora makes up in the afternoon, blows 14-20 knots from SW and is pretty steady wind. Peler is a colder wind that blows 18-30 knots from NE early in the morning and is more suited for expert riders, since it's stronger (18-30 knots) and gustier. Both winds blow sideshore.

On the few flat spells there are plenty of activities to do here, as the surroundings offer a real outdoors paradise where you can choose from rock climbing, rafting, horse riding, hiking, and even snowboarding at winter on the Monte Baldo.

A cheerful nightlife can be found in the many small towns scattered all around the lake shore, while for some hard party action head to the clubs and disco in the biggest cities on the south shore. If you're looking for sandy beaches and "seaside" atmosphere, well, this is not the place for you, but otherwise the Lake Garda is a beautiful, dramatic, uncrowded and most of all consistent spot.
