Kitesurfing at Ras Sudr

Listed under Kitesurfing in Egypt.

For great flat water, Egypt's Ras Sudr is ideal: two man made lagoons and a peninsular scooping into the Red Sea provide plenty of kite surfing options and the wind blows all day. Between May and October the wind starts at about 10 and doesn't show signs of letting up until about 7pm and blows at between about 30-35 miles an hour with only mild gusts.

The rest of the weather conditions here are equally ideal, about 30 degrees in the water, 40 degrees out of it and sunny. You can kite out of season for pretty much the rest of the year. Out of season evenings can get chilly and you get fewer days of wind.

The two lagoons are close enough to the edge of the sea to offer some tidal changes and a few smaller waves will build up then.

World champions train here so you can expect to be inspired by kiting alongside the best of the best. Ras Sudr is a great place to build on your basics and is pretty much run solely for kite surfers but it's too

windy to learn the basics here. The town itself is very Egyptian but there isn't much else to do here except kitesurf. Seven days is about perfect to get the most out of your trip.
