Kayaking New Zealand's North Island

Listed under Kayaking in North Island, New Zealand.

New Zealand is the Canada of the south, just in a smaller package. The kayaking in New Zealand can be split into North Island and South Island paddling. The north island is where most people start there kayaking trips, hitting up the warm water runs of the Kaituna, Wairoa, Rangitaiki and the colder waters of the Tongariro and Rangatikei. Though this is by no means the limit of kayaking in the north, there are countless streams and creeks running of the mountains and foothills dotted around the landscape, and there are plenty of waterfalls to search out and drop. Another jewel in the North Islands crown are runs like the Mohaka river which hold potential for wonderful multi day trips in very unique canyons.
