The 500km German Alpine Road traverses the Bavarian Alps via a route along pretty lakes, green valleys and alpine towns. The road begins by Lake Constance in the west then heads up through many bends and into the alps passing through Sonthofen, winter sports destination, Oberjoch, the region of King Ludwig’s fairytale castles before hitting an old Roman road and heading downwards into Germany’s flatter south east.
