Tahiti is many people’s idea of a tropical island paradise. Its fertile soils have supported a graceful culture of storytellers and fishermen since around 500AD and since Europeans spotted Tahiti in the 18th Century our western understanding of it has been instilled with the romanticism of the peaceful savage living a tropical ideal.

So Tahitian tourism has always been a bit of a no-brainer, it’s one of the island’s main sources of income along with the more romantic exports of black pearls, vanilla, flowers, fruit and fish.

Visitors can expect to stroll black sandy beaches, watching turquoise curls of ocean crash against colourful reefs in front of perfect sunsets. No wonder it’s so popular for honeymooners. Sailing, snorkelling, diving, fishing and relaxing are all popular Tahitian pastimes.
