Rarotonga is the youngest and least eroded of the volcanic Cook Islands. Its terrain of peaks and ridges encased by thick palm filed jungle was formed by a volcanic pyramid which also shapes the reef lagoons surrounding Rarotonga’s coastline.

At about the same latitude as Honolulu, Rarotonga enjoys balmy weather which hardly fluctuates with the seasons. Fragrant tropical flowers grow abundantly on the flatter lands near the coast. The deeper areas of the reef lagoons on the south side of the island are ideal for diving, sailing, snorkelling and swimming.

Rarotonga has a relaxed vibe, demonstrated by the bus drivers who are either going one way or the other and pick up anyone who looks like they need a lift.

Tourists in this region come predominantly from Australia and New Zealand, however recent increases in interest have lead to problems with the limited energy and fuel supply. This is under investigation by the UN who are helping locals find a balance between building infrastructure for tourism and damaging the pristine island landscape. 15 other islands make up the Cook group.

Lay back and relax

Slow motion and laid back...even the service....but usually friendly , great walks and beach.....experience the food and arts of Rarotonga, and get to know a few locals and it will be more enjoyable...If you want to get away and don't want to rush or, basically do nothing but put your feet up and read, paint, draw, create and enjoy music and dance. Visiting a Church is an Amazing Experience, the singing will blow you away!...this is the perfect PLACE to Escape, Relax, Experience different Culture, and to have a Laugh!
