The beaches of Indonesia’s Lombok Island are primed for snorkelers, surfers, divers, and, of course, lazy sun-seekers. Mount Rinjani and the crater-formed Lake Segara Anak are also ideal for trekkers, who may see barking deer, monkeys, porcupines, and leopard cats near the paths. Keep in mind that the nearby Mr. Baru is an active volcano, most recently erupting in 1994.
