Listed under Islands in Changwat Rayong, Thailand.
Koh Samet has superb beaches, which are enjoyed by a mix of backpackers and resort-relaxers. They tend towards quiet cleanliness which isn’t interrupted by strong currents or the monsoonal season. The whole island is a national park – you have to pay a small entrance fee to enter which goes towards maintaining the island’s thick rainforests and white sand.
The beaches offer the same blend of activity: windsurfing, jet skiing and kayaking, and relaxation: doing nothing in the sun and nice surrounds.
The island is just off the coast of Rayong Province in the Gulf of Thailand, but more importantly only a few hours drive from Bangkok.
