Since prehistoric times, man has been making its mark on the Swedish island of Gotland. However, the Gotlanders’ most epic achievement definitely took place in the Middle Ages. All of the town of Visby has been deemed a World Heritage site for the plethora of medieval architecture found within the limestone city walls. The hundreds of buildings that have survived since the 12th and 13th centuries are mostly made out of stone, and nearly half of them are churches.

Gotland Island

Pitch your tent wherever you like and soak up the cool independence of sleeping under warm summer stars and spend your days roaming ancient churches and your evenings frolicking on pale sandy beaches. Very Famous Five.
