Cumberland Island is one of Georgia's most beautiful water locations. It is the largest and southernmost barrier island and showcases pristine maritime forests, undeveloped beaches and large marshes. For a relaxing nature adventure, you can spend hours just walking around Cumberland in quiet solitude or take a guided tour from the park rangers. Things to see include the Dungeness Ruins and the immensely various wildlife, ranging from small marine animals to wild horses. The first African Baptist church is also on the island and is maintained by the National Park Service- it is one room made up of 11 wooden pews and three windows on each side.
