Located just off of the western coast of mainland Greece, Corfu has always been a popular tourist destination for the more discerning type of traveler, with a high concentration of luxury villas for hire.
The island also boasts many world class museums and libraries, including the museum of Asian Art, which holds over 10,000 Asian artifacts. Easter is one of the best times to visit the island, with alot of festivities and celebrations. The philharmonic bands separate during the day and play throughout the city and re-emerge together in the afternoon in front of the main church.
The north-eastern coast houses many British owned holiday vacation resorts. An island of just over 30,000 residents, Corfu remains a top Mediterranean destination.
