A tiny island, Aero probably doesn’t make it onto the agenda of most tourists traveling to Denmark. It’s home to a few small towns, tranquil beaches, and a number of little known but uniquely Danish sights. Ærøskøbing is the island’s capital, with centuries of architecture and character visible in the cobblestone streets and various museum-esque houses open to the public. One such home, the Bottle Peter Museum, displays hundreds of carefully crafted ships in bottles. Walking and biking are the best ways to get around the island and take in the natural beauty of the place, parts of which were lived in during Neolithic times.
