Overlooking the mountains and glaciers of King Oscar Fjord in East Greenland is The Red House, possibly not Tasiilaq's most luxurious accommodation but certainly some of its most memorable. Local cooks, local guides and reinvestment in the community set it apart from its more commercial rivals and offer visitors a more authentic insight into life in this isolated community. With everyone from international mountaineering experts and local hunters on tap to guide your climbing, hiking, dog-sledding or kayaking trip around the area, it's the best possible base for a visit to this spectacular part of the world.
