Built over 200 years ago, The 1770 House is surrounded by the leafy East Hampton Village. Enclosed with a white picket fence, its entrance decorated with brimming flower pots, this intimate venue brings Onassis elegance to the traditional English country inn. Dating from 1663, the 1770 still has many of its original features, such as a steep spiralling staircase, exposed beam ceilings and antique fireplaces, as well as a vast selection of books lining the elegant lounge.

Past and present merge in 1770’s frequently raved about restuarants. The inn has two, one can be found downstairs in the tavern where you can feast on traditional pub food and the other in a small, intimate dining room whose antique tables are lit by a soft and cosy lighting. Although the prices are as tall as the leafy trees which surround the area, the beautiful dishes on offer will not disappoint. Choose from a vast selection of appetizers such as roasted beets with blue cheese and walnuts and then a satisfying ricotta gnocchi with braised rabbit. Puddings all look like presents; steamed lemon pudding and buttermilk panna cotta with peaches are decorated with a selection of sorbets. These are as colourful and unrestrained as a Jackson Pollock paintings – many of which were created close to the Inn.

With six guest rooms and a private carriage house, the hotel's atmosphere is one of chic and intimate luxury; each room has a flat screen television and a canopy bed with phone and internet access. Some of the rooms have cosy fireplaces.

If the weather is fine, bring an oriental rug out into courtyard and relax on the patio with a 1770 Bellini in true Hampton style.
