Ngorongoro Serena Lodge provides an impressive rocky bastion against the cool highland mists, and excellent and cosy rooms with full sliding-glass panels between bed and the open jaw of the Ngorongoro Crater itself. Views down over the Crater and across to the Ngorongoro Conservation area are stunning

The 75 rooms of the Ngorongoro Serena Lodge are laid out on two levels in long lines along the crater rim, making it feel much bigger than the other Tanzanian Serena properties. The whole hotel is well decorated with hand-painted cave-type illustrations and styled throughout.

The dining room and bar are warm and inviting, with crackling wood fires in each, and the menu is both delicious and extensive, incorporating at least four courses.
