The Hotel Guru Review: Stunningly set in the Eden Valley, this eccentric mid-Victorian-folly-castle is equidistant between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales and makes a refreshingly different base. Owners Simon and Wendy Bennett are warms hosts in an eclectic home stuffed with antiques and curios, four posters and roll top baths. Dinner (on request) is communal, around a huge oak table and breakfast is a leisurely affair. Children and dogs welcomed.
