Sallyport ruined our honeymoon

SallyPort ruined our honeymoon!

“Oh I love your Scottish accent!” – be wary, the owner of Sallyport, Ms Elizabeth Middlemiss will flirt with you as you hand over your cash and then she’s gone, no doubt to court the national press or stick another wide-angle lens shot on her website.

We had a terrible experience and would not recommend this B&B to anyone, it’s not worth the risk if anything goes wrong. For the high price you pay you expect a good level of service and a comfy nights sleep – we had neither.

On arrival we were given an alternative and inferior suite, not the one we had booked. No apology was given to us. My wife (who is seven months pregnant) and I had a terrible nights sleep due to the mattress being bent into a too-small bed frame which the owner knew about and had ceased to remedy. If I wanted a hammock I would have gone to the Carribean – hey the cost of Sallyport would have got me half-way there!

Knackered, we did not want to stay another night and said we would like to cancel the 2nd night. Rather than offering us any refund for giving us a shoddy room, which incidentally had a weak spitty shower, broken dimmer switch and TV with no signal, we were charged for two nights instead! So... what a deal - one terrible nights stay the price of two!

On top of getting ripped off, we were furious that the owner (Miss Middlemiss) refused to speak to us and hid in the kitchen, letting her manageress, clearly embarrassed that the owner would not come out and speak to us, do all the talking.

All Sallyport want is your money – don’t be fooled by websites, flowers, promises of home-baking and L’Occitane bath goodies, they are nothing but cunning ploys to mask dodgy plumbing, no customer service and a very weird atmosphere created by its boast of a host, the ever-absent Ms Elizabeth Middlemiss.
