Listed under Hostels in North West England, United Kingdom.
A manor house without the manor house price, Hartington was built in 1611, a warming marvel of oak panelling, stove fires and fat leather sofas set in its own grounds. Now it’s a hostel, but one with family and private rooms all with their own ensuites and even a two roomed apartment called ‘The Roost’ popular with honeymooners. Families are made extra comfy with an adventure playground, wildlife garden and a pets area and there’s a games room, outdoor chess and a beer garden for the older ones.
The restaurant is worth visiting in its own right, it’s won some awards, but the main selling point has got to be that you can stay in the same room as Bonnie Prince Charlie once did – that’s gotta be a good recommendation!
Dorms sleep up to eight.
