This grandiose old building has been pushed and prodded until it contains all the mod-cons people have requested of a hostel – a bar, air-con in each room, a sun terrace, free towels, a DVD library… And it used to be you didn’t even get the linen thrown in!

Their website proudly proclaims that they have one shower for ever six and a half people, arranged in a configuration of rooms allowing for you to sleep alone, with your friend or partner or in a dormitory with up to 12 other people, mixed or single sex.

The icing on the cake, if it isn’t the attractively converted building itself or the good location, must be the live bands the hostel organises, or the bike parking, or the view from the terrace….
