Usually when the two words, antique and hostel collide, images of green crumbling tiles and floors peppered with unknown stains and left over crisp packets whose manufacturers long since went into liquidation spring to mind, and quite frankly, haunt us.

The guest book of the Lisbon Lounge hostel would certainly have something to say about this. Lisbon Lounge is set in the midst of historic Lisbon, among the monuments, cafes, esplanades, and close to Bairro Alto. The nearby train station also takes you to the beaches, Estoril and Cascais.

The hostel stands ready to welcome guests into its light, modern and wooden floored nine bedrooms, which are suitable for two to eight people each with their own lockers. There are also six bathrooms and as its name suggests, a lounge on each floor for you to satisfy all your lounging needs, whether you’re watching films, taking advantage of the free WiFi internet, or listening to music.

Wake up in the morning to a free breakfast and at some point during your stay have supper with the family who run the hostel and ask them advice about what to do during your stay and maybe other good spots to lounge about in.
