Free coffee, tea and breakfast, along with free internet access, local calls, linen and a locker have become common perks in the top hostels, so you have to have more than that to win hostel awards. And Clarence Castle has won some awards – it was voted North America’s top hostel in 2007 for example. They’ve got location, location, location and to that they’ve added generously sized dorms, a TV room and separate reading room, quality mattresses and bigger than average ensuite bathrooms. It’s been decorated in a home-y way and with a view over the park this hostel has a home from home atmosphere, added to by the restrictions on noise after hours and other rules. Well some people like to sleep.

There are two private rooms which sleep up to two, then a selection of dorm rooms with up to 8 beds, some sleeping only single sexes, some mixed.
