Hip, cheap and close to the beach, this hostel is an architectural marvel in brushed concrete and red glass. To fit in around funky St. Kilda, this hostel has added to its list of facilities a gym, a pool table and a ‘Sanctuary’ just for girls where you can get a cup of tea in the morning, a glass of champagne in the evening and use Aveda products and hairdryers to rid you hair of that ‘just travelled 14 hours on a plane’ feeling.

Their bar, ‘The Red Eye Bar’ sounds pretty lively, and with a free drink on arrival you really can’t not give it a try and they promise to entertain you with DJ’s on Friday and Saturday nights, karaoke on Thursdays, live music on Wednesday and trivia on Tuesday.

Dorm sizes are small, their website says so that it makes it easier for you to meet people, and the vibe is minimalist and ultra modern – a nice contrast to this cool café, vintage clothing beachside area of Melbourne.
