If you don’t have your own horse but ride as if you did, you can save money by taking a self-guided eight-day riding holiday on Ireland’s Western coast. “Self-guided” means just that: you and at least one other person show up at Horse Holiday Farm, you are evaluated, receive maps and your horse for the week, and then you are off. Your lodgings each night are pre-arranged, but you get there on your own time... which could be brisk, since you are riding forward-going Irish hunters. For the direction-impaired, you can enjoy the same independence while staying at Horse Holiday Farm and riding out independently each day. By eliminating a guide, you save money – how much depends on what trail ride you choose and what time of year you go. If you don’t have an equestrian friend, the farm will help you find one.
