Imagine waking up in the morning, peering out from the snugness of your tent onto a scene of perfect solitude, framed by azure blue lakes and rivers, verdant landscapes and the magnificent backdrop of the Torres del Paine.
This is just part of what you can expect if you take the multi-day horseriding trip through the spectacular Torres del Paine national park in the south of Chile. For riders, this must be in the top three best trail rides in the world. Simply gobsmacking scenery, challenging riding, tough forward-going horses and great company . . .not to mention plenty of Chilean wine at the end of a long day on horseback!
There are two versions of this trip - the camping version and the 'estancia to estancia' version for those who prefer their creature comforts. Go for it and take the camping ride to really immerse yourself in this extraordinary landscape, but be prepared for long days in the saddle, riding at good speed in varied weather and washing in glacier melt rivers. You will be rewarded . . .

Hi, All , Idid worked there with riding treks, It has been an unforgetable experience, I am now living in Lago Posadas, another great place for riding, for example Paso roballos. I organize riding triips there now in Patagonia Argentina but Paine is Paine. Good for Rebecca.
So I'm not saying that you should undertake a serious trail ride like this one in Torres del Paine unless you are at least a good intermediate level rider. But....riding in Torres del Paine is an incredible experience, even for someone (like me) who doesn't ride.
1) Saddles are basically comfy 'western' style with a sheepskin thrown over the top - i.e. it doesn't hurt.
2) The horses do what you want them to do. This is the only place I've pulled the reins to go left and the horse has gone left. It's amazing.
3) The culture here is all about horses - that's who settled this part of the world so you feel like you are getting a proper insight into the land.
4) It's incredibly pretty.
So, even if you don't usually like to ride, try and fit in at least a half day in Torres del Paine.
