Sparse, scenic canyon country makes perfect terrain to be seen on horse back. This is cattle country so it’s green enough to make a varying backdrop of rivers, canyons, forest and plains. Trails vary in length and there are ranches and camps which will include you in more than just horse riding if you’re looking for a lifestyle change as well as a journey. In the last few decades this region has also become wine country, so there is now a selection of more upscale accommodation and entertainment options to choose from as well as the camps and ranches. One of the other attractions of this spot is the strange little Danish village of Solvang, used as a location for the film ‘Sideways’.
