Listed under Harvests & Food Festivals in North East France, France.
Historic Noyon, surrounded by idyllic agricultural land and skirted by the Oise canal, has plenty going for it already: it's home to a wonderful 12th century Gothic cathedral, picturesque medieval half-timbered houses and the Jean Calvin museum, set within the house where he was born – and it's near enough to Paris for a day trip. By far the best time to go, though, is in July, when the red fruit season is at its height and is amply celebrated with a market full of delicious local produce, flowers and craft items, as well as heaps and heaps of fresh redcurrants, raspberries, cherries, strawberries and more. You'll also be able to buy fruity wines, preserves, cordials, cakes, and other treats to take home.
