The school incorporates beautiful stonework, striking lead glass towers with Scottish baronial style staircases and a stunning tiled entrance into the school. The entire property has a feeling of prestige and privilege fitting to such mature architecture. There is a distinctive mastery of the interplay of light and space, something of which Mackintosh was well known. During its construction, Mackintosh, Glasgow's best loved architect, reportedly argued constantly with the school"s board, who were unhappy about the rising costs that were markedly over budget. Judging from its current stance and reputation, the board's worry was greatly misplaced.
