Winged Foot is a par 72 over 7,264 yards, however if you're familiar with it from watching the USGA championship you might be expecting a par 70 course. Several of the greens are shaped like pears rather than more regular, symmetrical shapes, and they're narrower at the front and open out at the rear around the hole, almost like a mini golf course, and several of them slope sharply away from the hole, another mini golf feature. The 18th hole is a particular doozie, the bunkers close in tight to it on either side around a dogleg shape and players have to hit the fairway square on in order to approach the green at the right angle, if they don't the ball will fall backwards and it'll be an uphill hack to get back. Apparently this kind of set up is a trademark of the course designer, A.W. Tillinghast.

Membership to Winged Foot is unfortunately quite strict, and by invitation only.
