Neighbouring the Atlantic Ocean, this club has spectacular views and powerful winds, making a game of golf here a pleasurable challenge. Vale De Lobo was originally designed by Sir Henry Cotton but then re-developed by American golf architect Rocky Roquemore in 1997. The entire area is dotted with umbrella pine and fig trees, though the two different courses offered have very different terrains. The Royal Course is dramatic, running alongside the cliff overlooking the Atlantic. The high winds have led to hole 16 being known as one of the most difficult in the world if the wind is against you. The Ocean course is on the beach next to a nature reserve. Whereas the Royal course provides an area where only straight shots get you where you want to be, it's best to use curved shots on the Ocean course. The completely different courses allow any level golfer an enjoyable game.
