Snow. Golf. Usually those two items stay as far apart from one another as possible, but not in the case of Snow Golf. Yes, that’s one term to describe a completely new and exciting way to have a sporting experience in the winter elements. The Chivas Snow Golf Championship most recently took place at St. Moritz in the Swiss Alps, but the location of the tournament changes with every event. There are amateur and celebrity golfers in this tournament. For those who would just like to see the spectacle of golf in the snow, tickets can be won in contests through companies like British Airways and Chivas. The crisp cold atmosphere of the mountains dotted with green trees and the occasional white fox 180 meters above sea level add to the uniqueness of this event. The championship is played not only on flat white valleys but also over frozen lakes! There are different categories for the players such as men’s professional and lady’s open. The game covers 9 holes and is about 5-7% smaller than the normal golf circuit. Orange balls are used instead of white for obvious reasons. Players of the sport have said that snow golf is very different than golf- most of the typical rules go out of the window but its fun to try if you’re looking for something fun, unpredictable and different.
