Listed under Gardens in Florida, United States.
The Harry P. Leu Gardens was the first tropical garden I had ever visited and I was stunned to see how beautiful a tropical garden could be. It is 50 acres of ‘Old Florida’, featuring wonderful collections of camellias – the largest collection outside California, palms, cycads, grasses and bamboos plus many other gardens including the largest formal rose garden in Florida. There is a three acre Home Demonstration Garden with ten residentially-scaled "idea gardens" including a fragrance garden, enabling garden, wildflower garden, courtyard garden, evening garden and a shade garden. For those ‘snow birds’ living in this area, a trip to this garden is a must to appreciate all that can be grown here plus you will also know how to grow it in your winter home.
The Leu House Museum, dating back to the 1880’s houses the botanical library and is at the heart of Leu Gardens. It was Harry Leu’s home, and has been meticulously restored. The Leu House is on the National Register of Historic Places (Mizell-Leu Historic District).
They plan many special events so be sure to check the site out to see what .
