Not only a garden, but a huge and varied experience, all of the highest quality in a magnificent setting.

From the medieval deerpark with its epic view to Ripon Cathedral, the route leads through the early 18th-century garden of turf, water, temples and statue-groups backed by hanging woods to the finest abbey ruin in Europe at Fountains, all suffused with wild flowers. You need a full day here, and it all looks sensational in Autumn.

Studley Royal Park including the Ruins of Fountains Abbey

A striking landscape was created around the ruins of the Cistercian Fountains Abbey and Fountains Hall Castle, in Yorkshire. The 18th-century landscaping, gardens and canal, the 19th-century plantations and vistas, and the neo-Gothic castle of Studley Royal Park, make this an outstanding site.
