The Indonesian Botanic Gardens in Bogar were founded in 1817 Casper Georg Carl Reinwardt, a German botany enthusiast interested in the healing properties of Indonesian plants. Thousands of plant species were introduced, grown, and studied for their medicinal value, resulting in many benefits for the surrounding community. To this day an astounding number of rare, healing, or just plain interesting flora thrive in the 80 hectares of these world famous gardens.
