The massive fort of Raisen perches atop a sandstone hill, the town of Raisen skirts around it‘s slopes.
Raisen Fortress was built at the beginning of the 13th Century and covers most of the large ridge on top of the hill. Inside the fortress several palaces have been built as well as a mosque.
The name probably derives from names for royal residence, which Raisen Fort was before Indian Independence.
