Laid out like a mini Taj Mahal with long rectangular pool in front and three onion domed wings, Lalbagh Fort is a palace and fort commissioned in 1678 but never quite completed. The palace’s mosque, a tomb, several sets of gates and a portion of the wall were completed and still survive. Enough work was done on it to live in and a system to supply water to the complex, fountains, a roof garden and around 25 other buildings made up the original complex. Reconstruction and repairs have been done on some of the remaining buildings to make it more appealing to visitors.
