The only one of its kind in Sweden, Boden Fortress is actually the result of a group of five separate rock fortresses being connected together as one great defensive structure. Starting in 1901, nearly a decade of hard work turned solid hills of rock into a one of a kind military advantage for Sweden, very distinctive in its architectural design. The best known individual fort at Boden is probably Rödberget Fort, which is open to the public.
