It's difficult to find a good place to learn to paraglide. While there are quite a few suitable slopes and surroundings in the UK, lots of beginners would prefer to complete a more intensive course out of the country and unpredictable weather can then make attaining your BPHA rating uncertain. In this situation France's Grand Dunes de Pyla is ideal as the wind conditions are some of the most reliable I have come across. The low altitude, the lift off the sea and the breezes off the coast makes for consistantly flyable afternoons. There is also plenty of sunshine, which is another major advantage over completing your rating in the UK. Coming to Dunes de Pyla is a working holiday, though you may be training up, the coastline is pretty and there's a fishing port and a yachting marina so there is plenty to do and good food and bars for the evenings, you don't even miss out on the winds if you need a lie in in the moring. You can also try your hand at kitesurfing. While Dunes de Pyla is great for total beginners if conditions aren't gusty enough you may have to complete some of the CP tasks elsewhere but you should be able to get all the basics in and at least make a start on your CP tasks.
